What to Wear in January 2027: 17+ It-Girl Outfits to Copy Now

Looking for January outfits to wear in 2027? I’ve curated a list of winter outfit ideas to keep you warm while looking chic this January!

What To Wear This January

For most of us, January is the coldest month of the year. From snowy mornings to cold, gusty afternoons, dressing for the chilly weather is a must. But, of course, we all still want to look good while doing it!

To help you look your best while dressing practically, I’ve curated a list of January outfit ideas that are cozy, chic, and easy to recreate. I created my own January outfits for you to copy and included some of my favorite influencer looks. These ideas cover everything from everyday casual wear to elevated glam outfits. So, no matter what your January days look like, there’s an aesthetic ahead that will help you get through ultra-chilly winter days in style.

Pop of Red

Adding a piece for that unexpected pop of red has become a modern trend that I love. A simple element, like the sweater above, can add that bold allure while you keep everything else classic and neutral.

This look is ideal for anything from grocery shopping to getting lunch with the girls, and the long, wool coat will keep you warm without adding bulk to your outfit.

Subtle Plaid

@_melisoto

Plaid and other checkered prints have been big in 2026, and this is sure to extend into 2027. Melissa’s subtle pop of plaid helps to elevate these classic winter pieces and finish the look with a playful feel.

Pair this blazer with simple base pieces, adding faux fur and leather accessories for a final elevated touch.

Pink, Posh & Puffy

If you can’t resist centering your outfit around color, I’ve got you covered (literally) with a pink puffer jacket outfit!

A puffer coat is essential to make it through winter, but you can take this piece from basic to bold by choosing one in a gorgeous color. Pair it with a soft blue that complements but doesn’t overpower, and add another soft pop of pink with pastel sneakers.

Monochrome Winter

@riya.clo

A monochromatic outfit is perfect for when you want to look put together with little to no effort. I love how this coat has a similar fabric and silhouette to the sweatpants, while the puffed section adds subtle variety and style.

This look is ideal for mild winter days when you need to run errands but still want to stay cozy and comfortable.

Elevated in Leggings

The experts at Who What Wear know that “leggings can be chic with the right supporting cast.”

Whether you’re on the way to the gym and need enough layers to get there or you want a casual everyday outfit, leggings can be paired with sleek sneakers, a soft sweater, and an elevated cashmere or wool coat for a functional and fashionable look.

Polished Office Wear

@pauline__dt

Slacks and a long overcoat are an easy combination for an office-ready January outfit. I love the faux fur top Pauline has added here for a pop of luxe detailing. And again, the monochromatic palette adds an effortless elegance to the look.

Patterned Fleece + Suede

A patterned fleece jacket is ideal for something casual yet cute, and I love balancing out my looks with intentional accessories. The suede boots and sleek leather tote pull in those colors from the fleece, creating a harmonized finish while the blue jeans add the perfect amount of soft, airy contrast.

Chic & Casual Comfort

@marinergnt

For a day of sipping lattes and strolling through shops, a simple combination of a sweater, blue jeans, and cozy Uggs is perfect. Marine added a long, luxe, espresso-toned coat for a gorgeous, warm, wintry finish. And the red accents are simple additions with an eye-catching touch.

Classic & Effortless

A combination of neutrals ensures each piece will pair effortlessly with the next while adding enough variety for an interesting outfit. I love the blend of cool and warm tones above, as well as the blend of light and dark pieces. Perfect for casual workspaces or a coffee date with friends, this January outfit is practical yet stylish.

Aspen Glam

@kathleen.post

Aspen glam is one of the top winter trends to try in 2027, so this look is perfect for starting your new year in style. Kathleen opted for a faux fur coat in such a bold print, but the neutral, muted palette helps to balance out the daring pattern.

Such an alluring piece goes well with a simple and classic outfit, so pair this with blue jeans, black slacks, minimalist tees and sweaters, and sleek black boots.

Burgundy, Wool + Suede

Burgundy is one of my favorite colors for winter, and it’s the perfect way to add a gorgeous pop of color while sticking to a wintry color scheme.

I recommend pairing this burgundy sweater with navy jeans for a rich and elevated color combination that’s so effortless together. A black wool coat and pops of soft beige suede are the final pieces for a chic and refined January outfit.

Elevated Joggers

@mariiismith

You can easily dress up a jogger and sweat set in winter. Editors at Cosmo note that “An oversized black coat with structured details makes this ‘fit look intentional and not just something you threw on last minute, even though you def did.“

So, don’t change out of your favorite winter set, and instead dress it up with a long wool coat and elevated accessories.

Faux Fur + Rich Cocoa

Ecru jeans and a slim black sweater are an easy base outfit formula. For this look, layer on a faux fur coat and rich brown suede boots to style the outfit and create a polished, luxe aesthetic. Simple silver jewelry is a must, and I love the handbag that matches the boots, creating a cohesive finish here.

Winter Palette

@hollyelizabethblog

To keep it light and airy in winter, opt for snowy hues and soft, bright blues. The light denim with shades of ivory and cream works well for a clean and sophisticated winter look that doesn’t lean into traditional, moody seasonal shades.

Snow Day Look

If you were wondering how to look cute while out in the snow, I’ve got the inspiration you need!

A brown puffer coat with animal print boots adds so much style and personality to the simple base look. These colors are rich and refined, and the combination looks stunning together but will still definitely keep you warm.

Luxe & Trendy

@bethwilliamsstyle

Beth has created a gorgeous, on-trend look that’s perfect for something youthful and flirty. I love this outfit for a date night or girls’ night out. The cropped sweater and dark navy jeans are sophisticated but still feel playful, and the plush fur coat feels luxurious and elegant.

January outfits can easily be practical and stylish! Use my guide above to put together winter looks that look stunning even on the coldest days.
