Saying good-bye to sweet and sunny summer days is never easy, but welcoming in cozy fall fashion certainly is. From classic, moody autumn shades to traditional fall patterns, embellishments, and motifs, there’s a subtle, effortless sophistication that comes with this time of year.
A simple way to welcome the change in aesthetic is through your manicures. It’s an easy swap and small detail that can quickly change up your vibe, and it’s one of my favorite ways to subtly shift into a new season.
For the fall of 2026, we can expect new styles and trends to take the spotlight, and if you’re like me, you want to know exactly what they will be. Well, I’ve done the research and seen what the experts have to say about what will reign supreme in the nail world this autumn. So keep reading to see which nail colors and designs will be the must-try styles for the fall season!
1. Ruby Reds

While the top-trending red normally shifts towards darker, moodier, muted shades in autumn, that won’t be the case in 2026. Ruby red will be the color to try, and though it is deep and rich, it still feels brighter and a bit punchier than your typical autumn tones.
This hue is ideal for “a subtle, sophisticated look suitable for both day and night,“ so it’s a great option for anyone who wants a simple, old-money vibe that can still spice up a night-out look. Use it for a solid mani for something timeless. Or take inspiration from it-girl Hailey Bieber and add a splash of ruby red with French tips, then top the whole thing off with a pearly white chrome.
2. Not Your Typical Frenchie

Alternatively, Sofia (pictured to the right) has brightened her autumn mani with a pearl chrome coat. For those who want to go even bolder, long, pointed nails with a moody, earthy brown tip won’t disappoint.
3. Milky Mauve

Milky mauve was named one of the top nail colors to try by the experts at Real Simple. “Dusty rose, soft mauve, and cool-toned blush shades are all big picks for 2026 manicure colors,“ and this hue works especially well for autumn. I love how it feels luxurious without being too showy, and it’s perfect “as a modern update to the classic neutral,” (as Rebecca Isa says).
To lean into the neutral vibe, pick a creamy, beigey mauve, like the one Olga chose. For something that feels brighter, more colorful, and feminine, choose a mauve with strong rouge undertones. Jessica is showing off a stunning deep purple, while the polish by @gelcareofficial is soft and airy.

For this trend, we want to choose colors reminiscent of the season, so muted purples, blues, greys, and browns are a must. These nails feel modern and alluring, yet still wearable for day-to-day. And the trend is endlessly versatile, as you can add in as much or as little color as you want.
6. Pierced Perfection

The nail designs featured on the left and right lean into traditional stud designs, with dainty silver charms creating a simple pierced effect. However, you can create a more complex design (like the one by @pixie.nail.studio) using tiny rings, charms, molten details, and negative-space piercings.

I love the variety in designs above. Heather (shown center) opted for a dark, lush brown base to perfectly contrast the ivory speckles, while the designs on either side lean into shifting shades of beige and brown to recreate the natural, effortlessly beautiful patterns we see on deer.
