14+ Chic Looks To Wear To The Office in Fall & Winter 2026

Searching for fall work outfits to wear as the weather cools down? Find the inspiration you’re searching for in my list of chic fall office outfits for women below!

What To Wear To Work This Fall/Winter

I might be in the minority here, but I think dressing for the office is easier in cool weather. Long-sleeve button-ups, sweaters, wool slacks, midi skirts, and refined coats instantly feel office-ready, and they’re perfect pieces to wear in fall.

But with that being said, it can still be a bit of a challenge to figure out how to pair and layer these pieces together in a way that looks polished and professional without veering into overly busy or bulky territory, especially if you live somewhere with unpredictable seasons.

If you need some ideas and inspiration for fall work outfits in 2026, then you’re going to want to see what I’ve put together. I’ve curated a list of chic outfits perfect for the office and easy to recreate. Whether you spend your 9-5 with clients, in a casual and creative workspace, or simply at your own desk, there are office outfit ideas ahead that are perfect for you!

Stripes + Slacks

@edenvictorria

For fall work outfits that feel old-money, opt for a simple combination like Eden’s above. A black-and-white striped sweater tucked into black or navy slacks is chic, effortless, and perfect for a day at work.

I love this simple and timeless color combo, and this outfit works well for the season.

The Neutral Overcoat

@styledsara

A long, soft beige overcoat is a chic and versatile layering piece for fall. Sara has paired it with a simple work outfit, a pencil skirt and crewneck top, for an easy-to-recreate combo you can reach for on busy workdays.

But no matter how simple and easy it is, it still looks refined and work-ready.

Autumn Prep

@laruecopenhagen

I love the ultra-comfy preppy vibes here. A simple knit cardigan, crisp untucked white button-up, and slim black mini skirt feel prep school-inspired but elevated, especially when paired with sheer black tights and leather loafers.

This outfit is fitting for a laid-back work environment and can easily be worn throughout fall.

Modern Monochrome

@outfitbook_

A monochromatic fit is always a good choice for days when you want to feel comfortable and look professional without much effort. The all-brown look is ideal for fall, and these pieces will help you stay cozy all day.

You can also recreate this look for a winter office outfit. To ensure it’s winter-ready, use high-quality wool pieces, slim thermal layers, or a long winter coat that’s roomy enough to layer on top.

Luxe w/ Leggings

@marthawr

Fall leggings for work? If there’s a will, there’s a way!

Beige and navy are an elevated color combo, so lean into these hues or another combination that feels just as high-end.

For the outfit, the intentional layers on top and tall suede boots are the eye-catching elements, so pair your leggings with slightly oversized workwear that will take center stage and dress up these relaxed bottoms.

Silk Silhouette

@ooliviaorza

If you haven’t invested in a pair of silk or satin pants yet, this is your sign to do so.

This material is undeniably elegant, not to mention comfortable, and it pairs well with other fabrics. I love the oversized turtleneck Olivia added to the outfit; it matches the loose and effortless silhouette of the bottoms and is ideal for cool weather. Complete the look with heeled boots and a boxy tote for a touch of structure to balance the relaxed outfit.

Soft Girl Outfit

@kristelkalm

I’m obsessed with the oversized slacks above. They’re perfect for a soft girl look, one that feels comfy and ideal for all-day wear yet elevated enough for work.

The blazer and sweater are an excellent combination for cozy fall layering that doubles as office wear, and I love the subtle lacy white trim Kristel has added for contrast and style.

Suede + Denim

@cocobeautea

I adore suede for fall, and this material adds an elevated touch to a look with no effort at all. The turtleneck and blue jean combo is unmatched for cool weather, and it’s polished enough for the office while being laid-back enough for happy hour afterward.

I love that Hannah chose a simple and classic color palette for this look. These colors feel striking but cohesive and will always look chic together.

Midi & Mock Neck

@outfitbook_

A sleek satin midi skirt coupled with a loose, fine-knit mock neck sweater is a match made in heaven. This combination is simple yet luxe, and you can pair rich jewel tones with cool neutrals for a look like the one above.

Finished with leather pumps and a textured work bag, this fall work outfit formula is one to keep on rotation.

Sharp + Sophisticated

@judyxkam

A high-neck midi dress is one of my favorite pieces for the office, and Judy chose a gorgeous one here. Black leather is edgy and modern, but the neutral tones and modest silhouette make it suitable for work.

Top the look off with a simple blazer and low heels for a classic finish, adding a final bold touch with a patterned clutch, crossbody, or tote.

Scarlet + Silk

@mialuckie

Silk or satin pants look elegant but are ultra-comfy, making them easy to spend the day in whether you’re sitting at a desk or going from meeting to meeting.

For a laid-back aesthetic, ideal for more casual offices, pair these bottoms with a plain white tee and finish with a vibrant jacket (or zip up cashmere hoodie – linked below) for a trendy touch. I love the red one Mia chose, and this bolder piece is balanced out by simple neutrals and the elevated basics.

Early Fall Outfit

@outfitbook_

You can follow the outfit formula above for another tried-and-true early fall office look. A mini skirt, cozy sweater, and tall leather boots have a nostalgic appeal, and they look so good together.

Stick with neutrals for an elevated look, and you can transform this into a gorgeous winter office outfit by adding fleece-lined tights to the formula.

Slim Trousers + an Oversized Blazer

@la_nadia

Straight-leg trousers are straightforward for work, and pairing this classic workwear with an oversized blazer looks polished and trendy.

Drape a sweater around your shoulders for a quiet luxury look that’s also practical, and finish the outfit with Oxford shoes and a classy handbag. I love the colors Nadia chose; they add a timeless appeal to the outfit. However, you can lean into darker browns, navy tones, or burgundy for this look.

Simple Slacks & Crewneck

@orlaithmelia_

Pleated slacks are workwear basics that you can mix and match with plenty of other pieces for a professional look. For fall, or even winter, you can pair this piece with a crewneck sweater for a clean, polished aesthetic that’s appropriate for different office settings.

I love the pop of white Orlaith added here for subtle interest, and it’s a perfect refined base layer in case you need to take off your sweater throughout the day. Black leather loafers are another easy addition that looks professional, and the black tote can hold all your workday essentials.

Billowy Pieces + Burgundy

@sheerluxe

Billowing pants are breathable and comfy but offer enough coverage for crisp fall days. Add a simple white tee or fine-knit ivory sweater, layering a burgundy leather jacket on top for a daring touch. I love how modern and playful this look is, but it’s refined enough for work.

Burgundy heels add another splash of this gorgeous color, and the draped sweater adds style and works as a faux scarf while you’re out and about.
