Spring 2026 will bring a whole new set of nail trends, with everything from must-try colors to beautiful, on-trend patterns. I’ve done the digging, read expert opinions, and browsed social media to discover which trends will top the list, and I’m ready to dish the details!

Whether you’re searching for a new design to try at the salon or a trendy look to try at home, the ideas below offer something fresh and fun. So, keep reading to get inspired and discover what to expect for spring 2026!

1. Stripes, Stripes & More Stripes

(@glossytipped, @m.o.n.a.j, @samrosenails)

2026 is a big year for simple but chic patterns. We know that polka dots will be a hot pick this year, but stripes have made their way onto the top trends list as well.

Stripes are perfect for a minimalistic look that still makes a statement. Allure also notes that “as with polka dots, there are a thousand ways to do it. Draw inspiration from wide, beach umbrella awning stripes, the varied width and colors of barcode stripes, or diagonal candy stripes.

So, in 2026, feel free to mix horizontal with vertical, thin with thick, and add plenty of colors, sparkles, and metallics for a daring, fashion-forward mani. The design by @samrosenails is a perfect display of this bold blend, while @m.o.n.a.j shows how to use thin stripes to showcase gorgeous spring colors in a more subtle way.

2. Jelly Nail Nostalgia

(@craftedbyaprince, @disseynails, @bycheznails)

If you’re looking for a nail trend that feels light, youthful, and playful, this is the one for you!

Jelly nails are definitely nostalgic, and they have that perfect retro chic vibe for 2026. Translucent shades of pink, tangerine, crimson, and sky blue will add a beautiful pop of color to your outfits without being as bold as an opaque polish.

Nail artist San Sung Kim also told In Style that “This year, we’ll start incorporating [jelly nails] into more involved looks, like layering jellies for nuanced nails, swiping them over velvet for a glass effect, and painting them under mattes.

3. Velvet Textures

(@heluviee, @semilac, @simlynail)

Marie Claire declared that velvet nails will be one of the best 2026 nail trends, stating, “This trend isn’t about high shine; it’s about softness.

Velvet nails are so soft and so sophisticated, adding texture and style to your look without overdone details or designs. For spring, I definitely recommend choosing soft, classic pastels (like the icy blue, muted pink, and spring green above!

This design can be incorporated into a manicure in so many ways, so definitely play around and find your favorite way to wear velvet nails this spring!

4. Aura Upgrade

(@sephorafrance, @nailsinpng, @look8thenails)

Aura nails are next on my list of spring 2026 nail trends to watch! These glowing gradient designs are soft, dreamy, and ethereal, and I love the subtle contrast between the blended tones.

The looks above by Sephora and Diana (the pink and green designs, respectively) are perfect for spring; they’re light and airy with an emphasis on earthy tones and soft pastels.

However, the editors at Cosmo and celebrity manicurist Michelle Humphrey are predicting the “North Lights” effect (featured in the middle) will be a popular variation of this nail trend. “It’s not just one color in the middle of the nail; now the aura nail has leveled up so that it’s several colors on a nail,” Humphrey says.  This dark, rainbow-inspired aura will be a bold but gorgeous statement for spring 2026.

5. Elevated Earth Tones

(@avrnailswatches, @raelondonnails, @craftedbyaprince)

If the bolder, brighter nail trends above aren’t your cup of tea, consider simple, elevated earth tones. These shades are gorgeous yet grounding, adding a tranquil vibe while remaining versatile and effortlessly chic.

Nail artist Ami Streets told Who What Wear that earth tones will be one of the biggest trends for 2026, stating, “For those who like a subtle pop of colour, earthy rich browns, along with pale nature-inspired pastels like icy blue, greys or soft sage, offer a fresh yet wearable twist.

The manicures above feature some of my favorite colors for this trend, and you can use as little or as much of these hues as you want to match the vibe you’re going for.

6. Baccarat Glass Nails

(@nailsbyleelah, @nails.by.analorena, @jonelysnails)

I don’t know about you, but I’m already starting to see this nail trend pop up more and more on my For You Page, and I’m definitely not mad about it!

Per In Style Magazine, this design is “Inspired by the faceted shine of Baccarat crystal glassware,” and it’s “all about layered texture and depth. I love the simplicity of this trend, yet it still feels luxurious and playful.

Personally, the red look by @samrosenails is my favorite (hello sultry and sophisticated red!) However, the iced coffee baccarat look featured in the center is fresh and fun, while the @nails.by.analorena design is ideal for someone who wants to stick with soft, spring colors.

7. Simple 3D Art

(@heygreatnails, @nailmailbykhlo, @disseynails)

Queenie Nyugen is definitely an expert on top nail trends, and she spoke with editors at Marie Claire, stating, “This year, 3D nail art goes more refined and micro-scale.

While I love a good maximalist manicure, minimalist nail art is perfect for adding texture, dimension, and other details while maintaining a clean, refined look.

Molten details, pearl or jewel embellishments, and small, simple sculpted elements are the way to go for this trend. Plus, you can add these accents to any color, meaning this nail trend can work for any aesthetic.

8. Pretty, Preppy Plaid

(@phoebesummernails, @glossytipped, @samrosenails)

Vogue has named plaid as a nail trend to try in 2026, especially after speaking with nail artist Gina Edwards. Edwards, “predicts more preppy nail design will trend next year [in 2026], especially those already viral plaid and argyle prints.

I love how plaid nails are attention-grabbing yet elegant, and you can use this design to accent your nails or go big and bold with an all-over plaid look. If you want this pattern to feel more subtle and understated, use neutral colors. However, if you’re looking to draw attention, choose vibrant hues instead.

No matter which way you go, I recommend choosing a simpler color palette to avoid overwhelming the design.

9. Short Nails

(@samantharudge.beauty, @m.o.n.a.j, @sofia_nailaesthetics)

Finally, one of the biggest spring 2026 nail trends isn’t about the design or color, but the length. Short nails are in, and I love the way these clean, short manicures blend practicality with polished beauty.

You’ve really got this resurgence of people going really short, getting rid of that almond nail and going cleaner and shorter—that’s having a major moment,” nail expert Michelle Humphrey told Cosmo. She also added, “It [short nails] feels very modern, wearable, and maybe a bit editorial, so to speak.

Whether you go for an old-money look on your short nails (like the French tips by @samantharudge.beauty or the rich red by @m.o.n.a.j) or choose a spring-inspired color like @sofia_nailaesthetics did, short nails can blend personal style with modern trends.

These spring 2026 nail trends offer something for every aesthetic, from playful jelly hues to luxe Baccarat glass! Which nail trend do you plan to sport this spring?
