Do you need to dress nice in Vegas?

Vegas is known for its glitz, glamour, and neon lights, so tourists often dress in fancier clothing and flashy outfits. While you don’t need to dress nice in Vegas, it is highly recommended.

Many restaurants, clubs, and establishments have a dress code that requests more formal attire. Plus, it’s always better to be overdressed than underdressed!

How To Dress In Vegas

When deciding how to dress in Vegas for a short getaway or event, you’ll want to first consider what activities you’ll be doing while you’re there, and the time of year. This will dictate what kind of clothing you should pack and how you’ll be dressed most of the time.

For example, if you aren’t much for nightlife and prefer to explore and spend time in the casinos, you’ll want practical clothing that has a semi-formal vibe. For clubs and nightlife, bring out sequins, high heels, and outfits that are a little bit ‘extra’. It is Vegas after all!

Below are some of our fave ideas for what to wear in Las Vegas and chic Vegas outfits to try.

body-con midi dress + comfy sandals.

@kateehutchins

get the look:

This is a cute and stylish outfit that can easily be worn during the Vegas daytime. If you plan on doing a lot of shopping, you’ll want to look good going into the higher-end stores you can find along the strip.

The sandals are comfortable and practical if you will be doing a lot of walking, but the overall vibe is chic and sexy.

From day to night: Easily take this outfit from day to night by swapping the sandals for a pair of heels, and adding an oversized blazer or leather jacket if it’s a cooler month.

wide leg jeans + colorful cami top.

get the look:

This outfit is cute, comfortable, and fun, with an ode to the Vegas neon lights. Pair a bright cami top with a pair of wide-leg white jeans, and finish the outfit with nude sandals and a simple handbag.

You could easily wear this outfit during the daytime (swap the heels for sneakers if you’ll be doing a lot of walking), or for a casual dinner or drinks out.

How To Dress For Dinner In Vegas

When heading out for a fancy dinner you’ll want to make sure you are dressed nicely. Many of the restaurants in Vegas have an upscale vibe and you’ll want to fit in with the crowd.

Below are some of our top elevated and chic outfit ideas for Vegas restaurants.

This outfit is chic, classy, and perfect for dinner at an upscale Vegas restaurant. The oversized blazer adds an elevated appeal to the little black cocktail dress, and a designer bag gives a next-level aesthetic.

Kathleen wears this outfit with chic neutral sandals, but you can easily wear a pair of strappy black heels or basic pumps. You can easily wear this out to the nightclubs after dinner too!

colorful knit dress + kitten heels.

get the look:

If you’ll be in Vegas in the winter months or early spring, you’ll want some slightly warmer clothing options as the weather can get a little cooler, especially in the evenings. This outfit is great for a dinner in Vegas this time of year.

The long-sleeve knit body-con dress is bold and fun, but will also keep you warm enough if the temperatures dip. Add a pair of bright kitten-heel pumps or sandals, and a chic handbag to complete the look.

From night to day: Wear this outfit during the day when walking the strip by swapping the heels for a cute pair of white sneakers, and the mini bag for a larger tote.

chic + minimal dress and heels.

get the look:

Keep it simple and classy with a midi-length body contouring dress that shows off your curves. We love the white dress for a light summer look, but you can also go with black or a solid color like red or green.

Pair the dress with some dainty heels and a chic handbag. This outfit is great for dinner at a nice restaurant and heading out to the clubs after.

the blazer and shorts set.

get the look:

If you are headed to Vegas on a work trip, you can bring along some cute ensembles like this. A blazer and shorts have a more professional vibe, but the bold neon pink color here adds a fun Vegas feel.

This outfit easily works for dinner, clubs, and conferences in between. If you find a crop top under the blazer too revealing, go with a high-neck bodysuit. And, if the shorts are also a little too flirty for your taste, opt for chic wide-leg trousers.

What should I wear for dinner in Vegas?

When going for dinner in Vegas you want to dress in a way that is chic and classy. Here are some great outfit ideas to try:

  • Little black dress with a blazer or leather jacket
  • Wide-leg trousers, a blouse or a cami top
  • Blazer and shorts set
  • Sequin dress or romper
  • Body-con midi-length dress
  • Dressy bodysuit with jeans

You can wear all of the outfits above with comfortable low heels, chic high heels, or classic pumps to dress up your look even more.

What To Wear To Vegas Clubs

Vegas night life is a whole other world when it comes to the bar scene. The city truly doesn’t sleep, so if you are planning to head out to the clubs, it’s likely you’ll be out until the sun comes up (we speak from experience!)

So, while you will want to look top-notch, you’ll also want to feel comfortable in your getup. If you go with heels, choose a pair you are already comfortable walking in, as it’s likely you’ll be walking a lot of stairs!

Below are some of our fave chic outfits for Vegas clubs.

bralette top + wide-leg trousers.

get the look:

This outfit is stunning, classy, and sexy. Pair a lacy bralette, corset, or crop top with high-rise wide-leg trousers for a chic look that is also surprisingly comfortable.

Go with block-heeled sandals or pumps to support your feet when walking up the stairs of the iconic Cosmopolitan chandelier for a pic. You’ll be sure to turn heads, in all the right ways.

biking shorts, blazer + belt bag.

@naomigenes

get the look:

Comfort meets class with this unexpected, but totally chic Vegas clubbing outfit. Slip on a pair of oh-so-comfortable high-rise spandex biking shorts, and a cute bralette top.

Elevate the look with an oversized blazer and belt it with a trendy belt bag (designer if you can!). Finish the ensemble with clear pumps that work to lengthen the legs even more.

We love everything about this look which is why it had to make our what to wear in Las Vegas outfit list.

shimmer camisole top + mini skirt.

@clairerose

get the look:

Glitter like the Vegas lights with a shimmery silver or gold camisole top paired with a sleek mini skirt. Add some sparkle with a rhinestone clutch and opt for simple black slingback heels.

You can easily wear this outfit to dinner and then out to the clubs to follow. If you are worried about a possible wardrobe malfunction, wear a pair of spandex boy shorts under your skirt.

leather shorts + a crop top.

@bymelissxo

get the look:

Leather shorts are an excellent choice for what to wear in Vegas on a night out. They look sexy and cute and can be paired with just about anything.

We love this outfit with a simple black tub top and high-rise black leather shorts, strappy heels, and an oversized white blazer to finish the look.

You could also swap the heels for sturdier ankle booties if it’s a cooler month and you want something more comfortable to walk and dance in.

sequin pants + basic tee.

@caca.anjos

get the look:

If you prefer more coverage but still want the glitz and glam, you can never go wrong with sequin pants. Sequins in Vegas are an everyday thing, you don’t need an excuse to wear them.

Go with cropped sequin pants, a basic fitted t-shirt, and cute ankle boots to create a look that is perfect for Vegas clubs. You’ll feel sexy and stylish without barring-it-all if that isn’t your thing!

Casual Vegas Daytime Outfits

Wondering what to wear in Las Vegas during the day (when you might be feeling a little sluggish)? You’ll definitely want comfy clothes to wear for exploring the rest of what Vegas has to offer.

Below are some of our favorite looks for walking the strip, going for brunch, hitting the pools, and traveling to and from Sin City.

pink slip dress + sneakers.

@katherine_bondd

get the look:

This bubblegum pink slip dress went viral on TikTok and for good reason, it’s incredibly cute and looks great dressed up or down. While the original dress (from Zara) is no longer available, we’ve found some great substitutes you can use to put this outfit together.

If you want to look a little ‘extra’, but still want to be comfortable for shopping and walking the strip, pair a cute midi-length or mini slip dress with comfy white sneakers.

From day to night: Swap the sneakers for a pair of neutral pumps or heeled sandals, and add a leather jacket to take this outfit from daytime to dinner and the Vegas clubs

matching jogger set + sandals.

get the look:

Perhaps you had quite the crazy night in Vegas, and are feeling a little sluggish? Head to brunch and do some shopping in a comfy matching jogger and sweatshirt set.

Wear this outfit in the cooler Vegas months, and stick with a light color so you don’t feel overly hot. Slip on a pair of chunky sandals and oversized sunglasses to complete the I-may-be-a-little-hungover-but-still-look-chic look.

cover-up + swimsuit combo.

@lovisabarkman

get the look:

Wondering how to dress in Vegas when you have lots planned in one day? In Vegas, you can easily go from brunch to the pool, to walking the strip in just a few hours.

So, why change your outfit multiple times? Wear a swimsuit with a midi-length cover-up dress that’s slightly sheer or crocheted, and add a pair of comfortable chunky sandals.

t-shirt dress and sneakers.

get the look:

Another perfect outfit for Vegas when you are planning to explore the city and head out off the strip is a t-shirt dress and sneakers. You’ll feel cool in a lightweight t-shirt dress and your feet will be feeling good in comfortable shoes.

Bring along a denim jacket if you are in Vegas in the cooler months. Or, swap the t-shirt dress for a tank dress if you are there in the scorching heat of summer.

Don’t forget your sunglasses, and add a cute ball hat if you need extra sun protection!

the pool party outfit.

get the look:

When going to a pool party in Vegas you can wear as much or as little of a swimsuit as you’d like! We love this look with a sleek black one-piece and sparkly mesh coverup for a little extra glam.

Wear your favorite swimsuit that makes you feel like a goddess, and don’t forget heeled sandals or flip-flops for when you aren’t in the pool.

the plane home outfit.

@kateehutchins

get the look:

When you are ready to bid farewell to the Entertainment Capital of the World, you’ll want something comfy and cute to wear on the airplane. Opt for matching leggings and a tank, with a pair of comfy sneakers or sandals.

And, if you don’t want to put too much effort into your look, a ball cap and sunnies are your best friend!

How many outfits should I bring to Vegas?

How many outfits you should bring to Vegas depends on the length of your stay. Most people go for a three or four-day trip, so we recommend two outfits per day in Vegas; one for the daytime activities, and the other for dinner and the clubs.

You can also pack one swimsuit and cover-up to change into when you go to the pools. Additionally, you should bring one comfortable pair of shoes (such as sneakers), sandals for the pool, and a of couple pairs of heels for going out.

More Vegas Outfit Travel Tips

To finish off this post on what to wear in Las Vegas, we thought we’d leave you with some extra tips so you have the best time!

  • Bring comfortable shoes. While you might plan on dressing to the nines most days, you’ll still want comfortable shoes for all the walking you’ll do when you aren’t in the clubs.
  • Don’t forget a sun hat and sunglasses. Vegas can get really, really hot. So be sure to bring a sun hat and sunnies to wear at the pools and when walking the strip.
  • Leave expensive jewelry at home. Vegas is often crowded and busy, especially in the clubs, so leave pricey jewelry at home and wear pieces you won’t care about if they get lost or stolen.
  • Dress for the weather. Vegas can get quite cool in the winter months from November to March, especially at night. Be sure to bring layers and warmer clothing if you are visiting this time of year.
  • Go all out. Get dolled up, put on sequins and rhinestones, and don’t hold back. Vegas provides the perfect opportunity to go totally glam and have fun with it!

We hope you have an amazing time on your trip to Sin City and feel inspired by these ideas for how to dress in Vegas!
