Winter 2025’s Hottest Fashion Trends: From Messy-Girl Chic to Navy Obsession

Want to be in the know when it comes to the hottest fashion trends of winter 2025/2026? I’ve got the scoop! According to the top style editors, you’ll be seeing these 7 chic styles everywhere this season.

The Hottest Winter Fashion Trends for 2025/2026

If you’re anything like me, once the temps drop, you’re ready to trade in breezy sets for boots, coats, and all the layered drama. And with the Winter 2025/2026 runways serving up a blend of cool-girl polish and cozy extravagance, there’s no shortage of inspiration.

From undone elegance to rich textures and bold accessories, these are the trends I’m loving (and absolutely planning to wear) this season.

1. Messy-Girl Elegance

Move over Clean-Girl, the messy sister is stepping in. British Vogue has coined “undone elegance” one of the top trends of Winter 2025 and I am here for it. Think Carrie Bradshaw slipping a faux-fur coat over a slip dress and socks in the Sex and the City film, but with undertones of “frazzled English woman.

I love the idea of a pretty and feminine look with a slightly undone appeal. A messy low bun, lace, and a leather jacket. The perfect juxtaposition between elegant and that French je ne sais quoi.

To emulate this trend, I’ll be pairing a wool coat over a slouchy sweater with a slip skirt and heels, or combining a lace-trimmed cami with vintage jeans, ankle boots, and an oversized leather bomber.

2. Fur Baby

Bring on the (faux) fur this winter. WhoWhatWear says this will be one of the top trends, and luckily, it’s easy to wear. Faux fur coats and jackets will be all over Zara, H&M, and Revolve, ranging from budget-friendly to full-on investment, so start planning ahead and take your pick.

I love the look of a faux fur jacket with jeans, Chelsea boots, and big sunglasses in the winter. This trend is also perfect for the holiday season. Think faux fur scarves, cozy coats, and little fur-trimmed details that make everything feel festive.

3. Maximalist Accessories

When it came to the 2025 F/W runways, maximalist riches were everywhere. From brooches to shoe and bag charms, statement necklaces, and tassel belts, over-accessorizing was a thing.

This winter we can expect to see a lot of “extra” when it comes to accessories, and while I’m a minimalist at heart, I have to admit the bag charms have definitely caught my eye this year.

To try this trend, go for a statement belt on a simple outfit, chunky earrings, or add a fun charm to your bag (Labubu or no Labubu).

4. Wild Prints

Move over leopard, the rest of the safari is here to play.

According to WhoWhatWear, “While leopard spots continued to reign supreme… snake, cow, zebra, and even something closer to home in the form of Dalmatian” were brought to the table for Autumn/Winter 2025.

I’ve always been a fan of leopard, so this trend really excites me. I’ve already seen zebra print popping up at Zara and H&M, and for winter, I think these prints will look especially good in coats, dressy tops, or statement accessories.

5. Castlecore

The castlecore trend took over the nail scene earlier this year and we can expect to see more of it this winter. According to Vogue Business, “There’s a medieval mood brewing in womenswear this season.” Think gothic influence, chain mail, and touches of ruby red.

You can embrace this vibe with metallic accessories, head-to-toe black, corsets, ruffled shirts, voluminous dresses, and medieval-inspired jewelry. Even if your style leans minimal, there are easy ways to incorporate castlecore into everyday looks.

One piece that comes to mind right away is the viral Heaven Mayhem Julia Necklace in red and black, it has the perfect modern-medieval vibe.

6. Shades of Brown

According to Harper’s Bazaar, in winter 2025, “brown (is still) the new black.” We saw this color dominate fall/winter 2024, carry through to spring 2025, and it’s still going strong.

I absolutely love a deep chocolate brown, but really, any shade is on trend. Consider brown your neutral of the season and go for a rich wool coat, chunky knit sweater, brown leather trousers, or chic brown accessories.

7. Cool Navy Bags

Navy is like black’s cooler little sister. It’s stunning, understated, and the perfect hue to add to your 2025 winter wardrobe in bag form. Whether you go for patent leather, buttery pebbled leather, or soft suede, there’s no shortage of navy options out there.

My top picks? This navy suede bucket bag from Madewell, the Toteme belted bucket bag, and the ultra-chic navy Longchamp tote.

More Trends to Try:

  • Oxblood bags

  • Romantic in black (think lace, silk, leather, sheer fabrics, and velvet—all in black)

  • Maxi-length coats

Trend Summary

Winter 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most expressive (and stylish) seasons yet. Whether you’re into rich textures, gothic undertones, or safari-inspired prints, there’s something for every style personality to play with.

My advice? Pick the trends that feel like you, then have fun mixing, layering, and accessorizing your way through the season. Because fashion should never feel boring, even when it’s freezing outside!
